Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 July 2026

AetherPortal is an independently operated, personal software project run by a single developer, not a company. These terms are written in plain language for that reason. By using AetherPortal or any service under it (AetherID, AetherMail, AetherGames), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

The Service

AetherPortal provides sign-in (AetherID) and connected tools (currently AetherMail, a webmail client, and AetherGames). It's operated as a personal/hobby project and is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind — there's no guarantee of uptime, data durability, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your AetherID credentials and any linked mail account credentials secure.
  • You must be legally permitted to use email services in your jurisdiction and be at least 13 years old.
  • You're responsible for anything sent or received through mail accounts you link — AetherMail is a client, not the mail provider itself.

Linking third-party accounts (Gmail, Outlook, etc.)

AetherMail lets you link external mail accounts via password/app-password or "Sign in with Google"/"Sign in with Microsoft." AetherPortal is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or Microsoft. Your use of those providers remains subject to their own terms of service. You can unlink an account (and delete its locally stored data) at any time from within AetherMail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use AetherPortal to:

  • Send spam, unsolicited bulk mail, or malicious content;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or data;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure;
  • Use the Service for anything illegal in your jurisdiction.

Availability & changes

As a personal project, features, availability, and these terms may change or be discontinued at any time, with or without notice. We'll make a reasonable effort to communicate meaningful changes but can't guarantee advance notice for every one.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AetherPortal and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to data loss, missed email, or account access issues. Use the Service at your own risk, and don't rely on it as your sole means of receiving time-sensitive or critical communications.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for anyone violating these terms or misusing the Service, at our discretion. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by emailing thompaslambourne@gmail.com.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
